This fun book shows readers how to make standalone character figures with polymer clay - what the author calls "Oddfae" - dragons, treefolk, witches, wizards, fugitives from fairy tales, figments of the imagination, and the slightly off-center. Readers learn about materials, special precautions and quick, simple techniques; then they will get 9 step-by-step demonstrations. Each demonstration shows how to make accurate figures, from beginning supports to sculpting the head, hands and feet (including eyes, chins, noses, brows, lips, cheeks, mouths, ears, makeup and hair), bodies, baking and costuming. There are stories by the author and poems about each character.

About the Author

Dawn Schiller is an internationally collected, self-taught artist. Her award-winning work has appeared in shows, galleries, books and magazines in the U.S. and Europe. Biography

A self-taught, self-employed sculptor full-time for fifteen years, Dawn M Schiller (Dee) has been teaching online and in-person for seven years. Her award-winning work is internationally collected and has appeared in shows, galleries, books, and magazines, in both the US and Europe. She exhibits yearly at Comic Con International in San Diego, and at other pop culture/media related shows around the US. She also attends art retreats to share her ideas and techniques.

Dee collects Halloween socks, interesting hats and weird t-shirts, and loves Faerie, Halloween and steampunk. She has sculpted, made dolls or drawn since she was a little kid in the rural Midwest. Dee"s an artist because she can"t imagine being or doing anything else -- it"s BIG FUN!!!
